Vi ville bara passa på att önska ett gott nytt år och tacka alla våra kunder och medlemmar för ett riktigt bra år under 2011!
Som ni kanske redan vet så ändrade Mares försäljningsreglerna för alla online butiker med start 1:a Jan 2011 och därmed valde vi att satsa endast på Sverige, Finland, Danmark och Norge (från att ha sålt till hela EU tidigare). Så här i backspegeln kan vi se att vi ökat orderingången och trafiken från dessa länder på vår sida med ungefär +95% vilket tyder på att satsningen var helt rätt.
Nästa år kommer bli spännande med många produktnyheter från Mares och Head samt fortsatt utveckling av vår sida med b.l.a ett nytt “lojal kund” program där vi kommer att erbjuda våra återkommande kunder förmånliga rabatter.
I vårt arbeta att profilera Sportextreme.com som den ledande Mares sajten, med det största sortimentet av Mares och Head swimming utrustning i Norden, är vi på jakt efter gästbloggare som vill hjälpa oss med produkt recensioner och intressanta blogginlägg.

Detta är en sexbågig kamtandhaj som HURL (The Hawai‘i Undersea Research Laboratory) siktade med sin radiostyrda forskningsubåt utanför Molokai, Hawaii.
Kamtandshajen, som har 6 gälar, siktades på 1000m djup i Januari 2009. Cool va?
Mares X-Stream fenan nomineras i Compasso d’Oro

Mares X-Stream fick en nominering i Compasso d’Oro 2011 (som organiseras av ADI = Associazione per il Disegno Industriale).
ADI representerar och samlar vilka de tycker är de viktigaste huvudpersonerna i italiensk designsystem. ADI har t.e.x. bidragit till att placera “Made in Italy” i framkanten som varumärke runt om i världen. Föreningen utvecklar strategier för att kommunicera fördelen av olika produkter i förhållande till teknik, socioekonomi och miljö.
Definitionen av produktdesign är tänkande, berättande och strategi innan det blir en produkt.
På Mares produkter blir det grundläggande att främja och förbättra funktionaliteten med industridesign.
X-Stream Fenan är ett mycket bra exempel på hur design kan vara funktionell i en mycket högteknologisk produkt med ökad prestanda och effektivitet.

Nemo 33 – Världens djupaste bassäng

Located in Brussels, Belgium, the Nemo 33 swimming pool is perfect for fine-tuning your deep dive skills before you hit the ocean. The pool is 33 meters deep with 2.5 million liters of chlorine-free warm water and has become a tourist attraction.

Sir Richard Branson’s new Deep-Sea expedition

The deep ocean, is probably the least explored place on earth. We just know a minimum of what plants and animals live under the surface, and barely understand the complexity of deep sea ecosystem. One part of this is because we humans haven’t spent as much time on R&D for diving into the deepest parts of the sea as we have building space ships. That needs to change, and apparently Richard Branson wants to be a figure in that change. Recently, he unveiled the Virgin Oceanic submarine system, even capable of diving into the deepest parts of the Mariana Trench.
The VIrgin Oceanic expedition is a five-journey proposal, which includes the Mariana Trench, the Puerto Rico Trench, the Diamantina Trench, the South Sandwich Trench and the Molloy Deep in the Arctic ocean.
The submarine, that is designed by a guy called Graham Hawkes, weighs 3,6 tons and is made of carbon fiber and titanium. It has an operating depth of 11,277 meters and can operate for 24 hours. It is designed in a way so it looks like it has unique flying wings so that it can dive in the oceans “in harmony with its environment.” Also, Sir Branson notes that it is actually less costly to operate and manufacture than other subs in the same class.

New Mares ICON HD NET with air integration in May

Its now confirmed that the much awaited updated version of the Mares ICON HD, with bi-directional air integration will be called Mares ICON HD NET and is to be released in May 2011.
According to Mares the tank data integration in the new Icon requires an actual change in hardware so it won’t be access-able as a software update only to ICON HD owners.
This specific hardware is not available yet, but its expected to be available in May (at present Mares are testing prototypes, so the actual production seems very close). For recent Icon HD customers that purchased the old version, it would be possible to return the units to the dealers -pay for a transmitter upgrade and in exchange get a new Mares ICON HD NET with the proper hardware version, including the bi-directional transmitter modules.
Also, the Mares ICON HD now has Apple Mac support which is pretty unique in the scuba world!
